Silent Majority Has Spoken, Some of You Need to Touch Some Grass ^_^

This is just my gibberish thought seeing the result of the election. It’s only my thoughts and if it offended you…either you don’t open for another point of view or something.Write another piece and tell me the link, I might read it and have fun seeing others point of view. So, last Valentine day, my country is having an election. Not just presidential but also regional and senatorial and all that Jazz. The highlight is the presidential which pit 3 candidates, these people, which of all people this is the best they could come up with?

Let me explain why I despise those candidates. Number 1. Anies have the experience to become education minister and his job IMHO is not significant. Then he became Jakarta’s governor with riding hatred and religious sentiment wave, which is an interesting story altogether. The recap is: the incumbent Jakarta governor at that time, Ahok, a Chinese descendant and Catholic A.K.A minority have slip of tongue and misquoted to defile Quran regarding the verse which said that Moslem should choose Moslem leader and not people of different faith. This thing blows out of proportion and somehow portrayed as an attack to Islam thus people all over Indonesia flocked and strike to make Ahok lost the governor election.

Interesting due to the fact that Ahok satisfaction and performance index is good but his electoral is bad due to this issue (he is not Moslem and that “issue”). Anies riding the wave and portrayed as savior and protector of Islam, even blessed by approval from Front Pembela Islam (or FPI, a hardcore and more like and like vigilante but in religious weird kinda way that try to uphold Islamic value but in most cases you can pay them to do “anything” so yeah…sketchy group). Bottom-line, Anies created this schism or void to fill with divide and conquer and created tension between hard headed “radical” Islam with casual, liberal and non-Moslem. A situation that still lingers until now. And you know what, Prabowo from number 2 also a heavy promoter and supporter of Anies in this campaign. Try search cebong and kampret to see how the damage is done.

The scars of that schism still live until now. Many stupid stories like friends ended, family cracked because they have different choices. And you won’t believe how crazy this thing went down, a friend of mine didn’t get a job because he didn’t support Anies and all that crazy shenanigan. As a guy who didn’t care about politics, seeing this is really making me…sick in some way. So yeah, Anies and Prabowo who use this coward tactic is on my black list. Identity politic is kinda low, even for my lower than low moral standard.

Also the fact that they use religion as selling point is kinda like showing that you didn’t have any idea or agenda to be sold to the masses to support, which is weird since Anies is a darling in intellectual sphere. He is the go to by academia, intellect or any other “superior” or elite society and educated people. So he have the idea and program or proposal. But as a guy who works for more than 10 years, idea is one thing, execution is another thing. Sure knowing is half of the battle, but a political promise or any promises or proposal that is too good to be true is usually…too good to be true. Anies is social justice warior darling and influencer, which makes my timeline is filled with him and them (though mostly on Twitter).

Sure people said shoot for the stars and if you miss at least you might land on the moon or some shit like that, but I had enough of people like this in working space and politics. Just like office politic, usually the asshole is the winner or the one who get promoted while those who try to do the right thing either became rock in the river (not flowing and stuck) or became stepping stone for those people to climb the ladder. So sorry if to me, Anies is no action talk only type of person for me. Sure he might be smarter and better than me, but his action (or lack thereof) is what makes me didn’t vote for the guy.

He drive the religion wave, became “martyr” or a saint to be exact, even have blessing and approval from some ulama or religious clerks and he seize it for his victory. After he won Jakarta election, he might show that he actually not too Islamic or one sided but he never said sorry for his action (no politician would admit their “mistakes” but some spin it, he just didn’t, at least for me). Also he kinda…glory hunter, all of his “achievement” is his, not team or even all the accomplishment of previous leader tend to be…erased or something, so another no from me. Also his vice candidates came from Islam party that kinda…to obvius to be a suggestion from his supproter.

Number 2, I already said that Prabowo is one of those people also use same tactics like Anies with identity politic? Yeah he also a no go for me. Also prabowo is one of the authority that responsible for coup de tat and 1998 riot (a grim history of Indonesia where in the riot, most Chinese descendant is robbed, burned alive, raped, and any cruelty that humanity can do). He also accused to kidnap some activist and they never showed up. So yeah, again even for my low morality standard, he is a no go.

Sure his vice is son of Jokowi, the incumbent and once saw as hope for Indonesia. But his candidacy is also problematic. He could became candidacy because his father bend the law and makes the requirement suitable for him. And Jokowi is said to be cunning, ruthless, evil and mastermind that would do anything to maintain his power. Kinda shocking knowing his political enemy always say he is not capable, stupid, good for nothing…so jokes on them? Bottom-line, number 2 is not for me.

What about number 3? Well, to be honest, number 3 always said that Jokowi is a bad person that betrayed his political party and always do unjust act for them..which is weird since number 3 and his supporter actually in the same party and government, in fact they are the authority. So to be blunt, they are broken hearted party that didn’t invited by Jokowi into his new party. Also the fact that Megawati, the so-called leader of political party always put her figure above everyone else, even Jokowi as the most prominent and important figure in Indonesia, which makes me kinda fed-up with her, and her party and everything about her ha ha. Though number 3 vice is a good person if you ask me but still, no go.

So, none of them is good enough for me. I almost abstain and didn’t vote but my son is excited and since it is holiday to vote. I vote and I vote the lesser evil, the devil I know, which is number 3 ha ha. And for other senate or region, I choose people that I most familiar with. I guess all those baliho is actually working😅. And from the quick count, it blows my mind and everyone else. Prabowo lead with a very big margin. Which is crazy if you ask me.

This phenomenon is a wake-up call for those people who lives in the bubble who believe that what they see is the only and right thing to do or follow (in this case Anies supporter). Sure to be honest, Anies is king on Twitter (SJW haven), while Prabowo lead in Tiktok and Meta while Ganjar is…somewhere in the middle but he is the incumbent authority so kinda funny to see him on third position.

One thing that makes me (and probably others) fed-up with Anies is his supporter always position themselves as high and mighty. The beacon of truth, ideal and just. The answer of all Indonesia’s problem, like I mentioned before, a savior, messiah. And everyone who didn’t vote for Anies is dumb, ignorant, stupid and other degrading insult. Did they think they can get sympathy, let alone to influence people to vote for Anies with this attitude? Seriously, maybe they think the alliance of SJW, Moslem hardline and intellectual will makes Anies win? Maybe, at least that is what Twitter feed them in timeline. They ridicule everyone who vote for Prabowo, even Ganjar. I fed up with this attitude, and apparently also everyone else. Also K-Pop stan supporting him and treat him as an idol, kinda weird to see people treat politician (one of the wors type of people) as an idol.

If they say Indonesian are stupid, then they don’t understand Indonesian. If they don’t understand, how can they teach? This is why their holy war to educate Indonesian failed. They put themselves above the rest, seeing the world below them from their ivory tower, bubble world and lost touch with grass root. They say infrastructure that Jokowi built is pointless, for them, new capital is dumb, etc. Maybe for them who live in the city with all the facilities, privileges and access to information, work, opportunity, etc. What about people in the remote area? This pointless infrastructure bring something to them, an access, a hope for whatever worth that is.

Sure give a man a fish is stupid, we should teach them how to fishing. But if they don’t eat, they can’t think or have any power to do anything. Yes it is a short cut and not feasible for the future, but people need to survive, and maybe that is what they need at the moment. After their basic need to survive is filled, then we move on to another stage. Please don’t think that everyone is as privileged as you. Some even don’t have access to internet.

They said that if Prabowo win, they rather fled from Indonesia (to where exactly? And they think they will be accepted?), Indonesia will enter the Dark Age (aren’t we already?), the death of democracy (what is democracy anyway? Seriously?), the began of oligarchy (isn’t Indonesia always been oligarchy? From kingdom or sultan age, Soeharto’s reign, Megawati’s reign, etc?). Bottom-line, nothing new and original. As if replace existing with Anies and everything will change? Sorry I’m too jaded to believe that, I prefer Indonesia went to war-lost-starting new and cut the previous generation. The root cause is too much and maybe to replace with something new is easier (that’s why Elon Musk prefer to terraform Mars and start new colony rather than fix Earth ha ha). So yeah I’m not buying the whole Messiah stuff.

Honestly, this is might be deja-vu with the time Donald Trump won U.S. election and what I wrote in this blog still implies at this moment. Crazy ha ha. And just like that election, sure Trump is bad but at least he didn’t wage war on another country like Biden now (crazy huh?). The situation of Anies also kinda like when Obama won election. People said the air feels different, this is the new era, etc but after honeymoon over, not much change eh? And that’s why I don’t buy the change in election. Sure I’m apathic but also realistic.

So, bleak and gloom future for Indonesia? Somehow I have the glimpse of positivity, even if nothing gonna change (much) no matter who wins the election. I believe most people need momentum to do something drastic and that’s why election is important for most people (especially Anies supporter). I also believe that each candidate and everyone will try their best (even if it’s failed in the future or succeed) to improve Indonesia. So I just hope after the stupid election passed. Everyone will colab to bring a better tomorrow for Indonesia.

PS: Yes I’m kinda hate Anies and it’s supporter, sorry for that, I even kinda wished Prabowo win to makes them feel defeated, humbled or teach to touch some grass. Please change the attitude a little and maybe in the second round, more people will vote for him. I admit his program like I mentioned before, is good. So please tone down the insult. Because I think the “cebong-kampret” at the moment is replaced with “intelect-dumb”…which is actually same song different album. Indonesia need to be united. If you can’t accept Anies lost, make him and his party opposition, do check and balance. As a guy who gives no $hit to politic just make Indonesia better.
